Groundplum This beautiful native legume was a favourite food of the plains bison, hence its other name Buffalo Bean. Dried seedpods made noisy rattles, giving it another name of Indian Rattle. Now rarely found. Forms low growing mats to 2" (5cm) high with splendid mauve and white flowers in May-June. Delicious edible fruit tastes like a sweet cucumber. Full sun on dry to medium soil. Grows well with Blue Grama, Sheep Fescue, 3 Flowered Avens & Hairy Golden Aster. Price: Sorry, seed currently unavailable. |
