Beautiful evergreen ground cover to 12" (30 cm) on any soil in full sun. Flowers in spring-time with red-purple blooms that turn into lovely silvery red seed plumes. Early settlers called it "Prairie Smoke" because of the smoky reddish hue that the seeds turned the prairie. This is one species where the seedheads are every bit as attractive as the flowers. Ideal for low borders & rock gardens. Particularly nice when mixed with Prairie Crocus, Blue Grama, June Grass & Sheep Fescue. Sorry, seed currently unavailable |
